Andy O’Neil is an artist, composer, producer, sound designer, performing musician and creative technologist currently based in Boorloo / Perth.

Across more than two decades in Australia and the United Kingdom, his artistic output has spanned composition for contemporary dance, stage and screen; songwriting and record production; extensive live performance as a musician; and the development of creative music technologies.

His composition and sound design work is often developed in close collaboration with artists working across movement, performance and visual art. From 2020 to 2023, he collaborated with choreographer Annette Carmichael on The First Hug and the Porongurup chapter of Distributed 15: The Stars Descend. Recent projects include The Girl with the Colourful Mind with dancer Emily O’Brien (2024–2026); River Road with Giorgia Schijf (2025); Wooditjup Bilya: A Dreamtime Creation Story with Weaving Stories of Boodja and choreographer Dale Kelly (2025); works with Malgana Yamatji choreographer and dance artist Janine Oxenham for the Jamba Nyinayi Festival (2025); and MUDH with Torres Strait Islander choreographer Sonya Stephen (2025–2026).

Since 2017, Andy has composed music to brief for Score a Score, Universal Music, Gothic Storm, SoStereo and Boost Music. His work has appeared internationally across television and streaming platforms, including Netflix. In 2025, his composition Sojourn featured in the US television trailer for the Universal Pictures film The Woman in the Yard.

After studying Contemporary Music and Jazz Performance at WAAPA, Andy spent nine years in London working as a producer, songwriter, recording musician and performing artist. He has co-written and produced singles, EPs and albums for recording artists, alongside extensive work as a live and recording session musician. Through projects including SIBONEY+ANDY and THE NEW NOW, Andy and his musical and life partner Siboney performed across the UK and Europe for more than eight years and have continued to perform regularly since returning to Australia. His wider performance career has included tours throughout Australia and Asia, with performances in the US, South-East Asia, France, Spain and Italy.

Alongside his music practice, Andy develops interactive audio and art technology and designs music software and hardware. In 2024–2025, he received the Western Australian Innovation Booster Grant to develop the HUMBL Devices Loop Pedal. In 2026, he is working as Technology Artist and Sound Designer for Carrying the Fire (FORM / Southern Edge Arts), a large-scale performance involving more than 2,000 participants across five kilometres of coastline.
